Hundreds lose power after garbage truck accident takes out poles

ABILENE, TX – Hundreds of customers lost power in Abilene lost power on Tuesday after a crash involving a garbage truck and multiple power lines, local news reports.  

The incident occurred at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the Hendrick Medical Plaza on Buffalo Gap Road.

It is not clear at this time why the driver lost control of the garbage truck. The truck knocked down five poles and left the driver trapped due to the live wires.

Firefighters successfully rescued the driver, who was not injured. Approximately 700 people lost power but most had it restored by 10:45 a.m.
