Narrative

AMARILLO, TX – Three people died last Thursday after a head-on collision along a busy roadway in southeast Amarillo.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on South Grand Street near 48th Avenue, which is just east of Southeast Park and south of I-40.

Police say that a 17-year-old female driver lost control of her white Lexus while speeding on Grand Avenue. She veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Chevy Impala.

The driver of the Lexus died, as died the driver and passenger in the Impala.

Authorities identified the victims from the Impala as 37-year-old Joseph Hernandez and 38-year-old Moses Hernandez.

Medics transported a child from the Impala to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
