Narrative
AMARILLO, TX – A 56-year-old man died on Thursday evening after his vehicle collided head-on with an 18-wheeler in Amarillo.
The incident happened around 6:35 p.m. near the intersection of South Loop 335 East and Southeast 58th Avenue, which is just south of Route 66 Motor Speedway.
The investigation indicates that the victim’s SUV crossed the roadway and struck a semi-truck head-on, causing the semi to ignite.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Bernardo Rivera, died at the scene of the accident.
The truck driver was uninjured in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
