The fatal accident occurred on the eastbound ramp onto West Ben White Boulevard, near South Congress Avenue, just after 6:00 a.m.
It was unclear what led up to the multi-vehicle wreck, but paramedics said a pedestrian was involved. Authorities clarified that the person killed in the crash was not the pedestrian, but an adult vehicle occupant.
Multiple ambulances responded to the scene, but no information regarding other injuries has been disclosed.
A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Transportation indicated wet road conditions may have been a factor in the crash, among many other accidents that same day.
