Narrative

A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in Austin’s South Lamar neighborhood. The incident occurred on the eastbound lanes of Ben White Boulevard at James Casey Street, shortly after 2:00 a.m. Details remain limited, but Austin Police said a driver struck the victim with an unknown vehicle and fled the scene. The victim received CPR from Austin-Travis County EMS and was rushed to an area hospital. Authorities said he was listed in critical condition. All eastbound lanes of Ben White Boulevard from Banister Lane to South First Street were shut down during an investigation.
