Car hydroplanes, fatally strikes woman on Ed Bluestein in SE Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A 31-year-old woman died after being hit by a car that hydroplaned this Monday in southeast Austin, FOX 7 reports.

Police were called to the the 500 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard at 3:16 p.m. They say that Kassie Leigh Wolin had been traveling south when her Toyota Corolla hydroplaned on a patch of wet roadway, struck a guardrail, and then came to a stop. She exited her vehicle and was subsequently struck by a Mercedes-Benz that spun out on the same wet patch.

Emergency responders pronounced Wolin dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes remained at the site of the accident and declined treatment from EMS.

APD’s investigation into the crash is ongoing.
