Driver killed in fiery, single-vehicle crash on Mopac Expressway

AUSTIN, TX – A person was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle collision on the Mopac Expressway early Sunday morning, according to information from the Austin Police Department.

The crash occurred in the 8800 block of the N Mopac service road southbound at 2:54 a.m., when the driver of a white BMW crashed into a curb, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene.

The accident, which is Austin’s 85th fatal crash of the year, remains under investigation.
