Elderly man killed by hit-and-run driver in crash on I-35 service road

AUSTIN, TX – An elderly man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on the I-35 service road on Sunday morning, according to the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 12200 block of the S I-35 service road before 7:18 a.m. At that time, a security guard making his morning rounds discovered the body of 76-year-old Stanley Frank Curran.

It appears that Curran was struck by a driver who then fled the scene.

He was pronounced dead at 7:26 a.m.

Based on debris found at the scene, authorities believe that the suspect vehicle is a 2019-2021 silver Toyota Corolla, which may have sustained significant damage to the front.
