Pedestrian fatally struck by driver in early-morning crash on I-35

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian walking across I-35 in North Austin was fatally struck by a driver early Wednesday morning, according to a release from the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 4000 block of N I-35 southbound at 5:08 a.m., when the driver of a Nissan truck collided with a male pedestrian who was walking across the interstate highway.

Despite the attempts of emergency personnel to save his life, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:25 a.m.

The victim was described only as a white male approximately 45 years in age.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash and has cooperated with the investigation.

The crash, which is the 87th fatal collision of the year for Austin, remains under investigation at this time.
