Pedestrian fatally struck by driver in late-night crash on I-35 in N Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian walking across I-35 in North Austin was fatally struck by a driver late Sunday night, according to a release from the Austin Police Department.

The crash happened in the 12200 block of N I-35 southbound at around 11:06 p.m., as an unidentified male pedestrian walked into the travel lanes of the interstate. There, he was struck by the driver of a white Toyota. The driver was unable to avoid colliding with the pedestrian before impact.

The victim was pronounced dead after the crash.

The driver remained at the scene following the collision and has cooperated with authorities.

The crash, which is the 86th fatal collision of the year for the city, remains under investigation at this time.
