JOLLYVILLE, TX – A person pushing a shopping cart was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Jollyville area west of Round Rock on Tuesday morning, according to KXAN.
The collision occurred on State Highway 45 and Parmer Lane at about 2:30 a.m., as a person was pushing a shopping cart across the roadway.
The victim was struck by the driver of a Lexus sedan, and then by multiple other vehicles. The driver of the Lexus fled the scene on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.
The victim, who may have been experiencing homelessness, was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.
The other drivers who struck the victim remained at the scene and have cooperated with the investigation.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of SH-45 for multiple hours as they worked the accident.
