Person hospitalized after driving 100 feet off overpass in NW Austin

AUSTIN, TX – One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after their car crashed off the side of an overpass in northwest Austin last night, according to CBS Austin.

The collision happened in the 13800 block of the northbound Highway 183 service road, near N FM 620 Road at 8:44 p.m., when a driver went over the side of an overpass and fell about 100 feet.

The driver, who was identified only as an adult victim, was pinned within the vehicle. After being extricated, they were declared a trauma alert, then taken to St. David’s Round Rock for the treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries.

Drivers were told to expect heavy traffic delays near the scene of the crash.
