Narrative

A man died Thursday morning after being pinned as a result of a crash on Farm to Market Road 973 near east Austin. The fatal wreck occurred at the intersection with the southbound service road of North State Highway 130. Austin-Travis County EMS were called to the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. One male occupant who was left pinned in the wreckage had to be extricated. The patient, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was rushed by medics to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Another patient was taken to the hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening. It was unclear what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved. An investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety was underway.
