Narrative

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — One person died early Tuesday after a single-vehicle crash on Texas State Highway 130 near south Del Valle.

The fatal wreck happened on the northbound lanes at Elroy Road, west of Austin’s Stoney Ridge area. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials responded to the scene at 12:30 a.m.

An early investigation indicates the driver was traveling northbound at speeds far above the posted speed limit of 80 mph. At one point, the vehicle hit the overpass and supporting pillars, causing the vehicle to split.

The driver died from their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials. No one else was in the vehicle at the time.

Part of TX-130 was closed as troopers worked the area.

Authorities noted no damage to the overpass, but the guardrail sustained extensive damage.
