Woman dead after car crashes into pond near Hill Country Galleria

BEE CAVE, TX – A woman is dead after her vehicle crashed into a retention pond near the Hill Country Galleria on Wednesday night, according to KXAN.

The crash occurred in the 3900 block of Market Street at about 9 p.m., when a car crashed and overturned into a retention pond filled with about two feet of water.

Authorities were unable to immediately pull the woman from the vehicle, because the locked doors had become caught in the mud. Crews later pried the door open using emergency tools.

The victim was taken to the hospital in Lakeway, and at 10:10 p.m., she was pronounced dead.
