24-year-old man facing charges after fatal wrong-way crash in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX – One person was killed and another was injured in an alleged drunk-driving accident this weekend in north Beaumont, according to 12 News Now.

The accident happened at the intersection of RFD Rd and Highway 105 just after 7:15 p.m. Saturday, when a car, driven by 24-year-old Beaumont man Jonah Watts, crossed over the center line and into the lane of oncoming traffic.

Watts then collided head-first with another vehicle in the 7100 block of Hwy 105.

Two people in the struck vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious wounds, where one of them, 51-year-old Warren man Jonnie Longnion, died of his injuries.

Watts was taken to the Jefferson County Jail after being cleared at the hospital, and he is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
