27-year-old driver killed after trying to pass on FM 1406 in Jefferson Co.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, TX – A 27-year-old man was killed after attempting to pass another vehicle on FM 1406 in Jefferson County this weekend, according to 12 News Now.

The accident happened on northbound FM 1406, near mile marker 454, at about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, when 27-year-old Nome man Dalton William Horn attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.

His vehicle, a 2006 Dodge pickup truck, was approaching another vehicle head-on as he was passing. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Horn swerved to the right, and went off the side of the roadway.

He overcorrected the vehicle, causing the pickup truck to overturn multiple times and go off the opposite side of the roadway.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other people were reported injured in the crash.
