29-year-old man killed in collision with dump truck in Orange County

ORANGEFIELD, TX (ORANGE COUNTY) – A man was killed in an accident involving a dump truck last week in Orange County, according to 12 News Now.

The crash occurred on FM 408, near FM 105, at about 8:15 a.m. Friday, when the driver of a Honda sedan went over the center line and into the left lane while rounding a curve. The Honda was struck by a Freightliner dump truck operated by a 58-year-old Orange resident.

The dump truck was hanging off the side of the road when authorities arrived.

The driver of the Honda, 29-year-old Orange man Christopher Cooksey, died at the scene.

An infant in the vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The baby did not appear to be injured and had been properly restrained in a car seat.

The driver of the dump truck was not reported as hurt.
