FANNETT, TX (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A 9-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle during a collision that also hurt another person in Jefferson County this afternoon.
According to the Port Arthur News, the accident happened on I-10 near mile marker 838 and FM 365 in Fannett. At about 3:30 p.m., the driver of a 2000 Ford Explorer failed to maintain a single lane.
The Ford, operated by 22-year-old Houston man Judel Maldonado Salazar, then struck a 2010 Peterbilt semi-truck. The Ford rolled over multiple times, ejecting a 9-year-old boy in the process.
The child was airlifted to the hospital in Galveston for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.
A 60-year-old Houston woman, who was a passenger in the Ford, was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of non-critical wounds.
Salazar and the truck driver were not reported as hurt.
