Baytown man dead in Jefferson County pedestrian accident

WINNIE, TX (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A man from Baytown is dead following a pedestrian accident on SH-73 in Jefferson County Sunday night, according to the Port Arthur News.

The accident happened about a mile east of Englin Road in Winnie at about 8:20 p.m. when a Chevrolet went off the highway and wrecked. The driver, Baytown man Craig Strange, 39, then got out of his vehicle and walked into the highway.

He was then struck by a different Chevrolet, a pickup truck. Strange died at the scene.

The driver of the second Chevrolet, a 31-year-old man from Beaumont, was not hurt in the collision.

The eastbound lanes of SH-73 were closed following the accident for the investigation of the accident.
