BEAUMONT, TX – A dead woman’s body was discovered in the trunk of a vehicle after its driver wrecked the vehicle multiple times during a police pursuit in Beaumont this weekend, according to a report by KBMT.

The incident began on eastbound I-10 near FM 365 at about 8 a.m. on Saturday when a Texas State Trooper spotted the driver of a white Honda reportedly driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed.

The driver, 35-year-old Fresno man Victor Campbell, slowed down as if to pull over for the officer who had turned on his emergency lights. The suspect then sped away, starting a pursuit.

The Honda then collided with a concrete barrier, causing Campbell to lose control and the vehicle to lose one of its wheels.

After wrecking two more times, the vehicle finally ended up near the parking lot of a thrift shop located at 805 North Street.

When authorities searched the vehicle, they discovered the body of a woman they identified as 28-year-old Houston resident Briana Teirra Johnson.

Authorities have ruled her death as a homicide and will be performing an autopsy on her body.

Campbell was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries that he is expected to survive. He is currently in police custody, and at this time, it is unknown what charges he will be facing.
