CHINA, TX (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A man was killed and another person was injured during a T-bone collision west of Beaumont, in Jefferson County, this weekend.
According to 12 News Now, the collision occurred at 11 p.m. Saturday night in the city of China, near the intersection of Highway 90 and Rice Field Road.
29-year-old Beaumont man Edgar Espinosa, operating a 2002 Acura sedan, failed to yield at a stop sign while traveling southbound on Rice Field Rd. He pulled into the pathway of a 2019 Hyundai SUV operated by 22-year-old Beaumont resident Cameryn Vaughn, and the SUV collided with the side of the Acura.
Espinosa died at the scene.
Vaughn sustained non-critical wounds in the crash and was brought to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities closed Hwy 90 for about two hours as they investigated the collision.
