Elderly woman fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX – An elderly woman was fatally struck by a driver who left the scene of the crash on Major Drive in Beaumont last weekend, according to 12 News Now.

The collision happened at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 25, in the 1800 block of S Major Drive, when the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe collided with 70-year-old Cheek resident Russell Guillory, then fled the scene.

Guillory was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

Authorities later located 28-year-old Beaumont resident Shelby Mone Douglas, who reportedly confessed to fatally striking Guillory.

Douglas was taken into the Jefferson County Correctional Facilities on charges of a hit-and-run leading to death.

The accident remains under investigation.
