Man killed in I-10 hit-and-run crash outside of Beaumont

BEAUMONT, TX – A man from Port Neches died just outside of Beaumont last night after he was struck by a driver who then fled the scene, according to KBMT.

The accident happened near milepost 839 of I-10, about six miles west of Beaumont, at about 9:45 p.m. as victim Juan Jose Hernandez Jr., 41, was walking on the shoulder of the highway.

He was hit by a car, possibly a beige Chevrolet with damage to the front of the vehicle, that then left the scene.

Hernandez died at the site of the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision and to search for the driver of the vehicle. Those with any information about the crash are asked to call the Department of Public Safety at 936-699-7340.
