Vidor man killed after his motorcycle crashes into towed passenger van

BRIDGE CITY, TX – A motorcyclist from Vidor is dead after he collided with the back of a van on the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday night, according to 12 News Now.

The collision happened on Highway 73 eastbound at about 8:50 p.m., as 51-year-old Vidor resident Edward Joseph Ortiz was operating a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

He reportedly did not brake in time and crashed into the rear of a 1996 GMC Savana’s towed vehicle, a 2001 Ford Windstar passenger van.

Ortiz was dead at the scene but was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

No other injuries were reported.
