KINGSVILLE, TX – One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash after a trailer became unhitched from a vehicle in the Kingsville area earlier this week, according to KRIS TV.

The crash happened on Highway 77 near E. Corral Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, when a trailer became detached from a grey dually pickup truck headed northbound. The trailer then went over the median and into the southbound lanes of traffic, where it collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The impact sent the Ford into a barrier, where it overturned, causing the driver, 46-year-old Weslaco man Jonathan Limas, to be ejected from the vehicle.

Limas died at the scene.

The driver pulling the trailer initially stopped, the scene, according to authorities.

Police are searching for the driver and are continuing to investigate the accident at this time. Those with information on the case are asked to contact the Kingsville Police Department at 361-592-4311.
