DALLAS, TX – Eight people were injured, and a 21-year-old man is facing charges following a two-vehicle collision in southeast Dallas that allegedly involved intoxicated driving.
According to NBC DFW, the accident occurred near the intersection of St. Augustine Drive and the 9500 block of C.F. Hawn Freeway at about 1:05 a.m. Sunday., when a 21-year-old man allegedly ran a red light.
The driver, Pablo Hernandez Martinez, Jr., was operating a black 1999 Chevrolet Silverado that then collided with a gray 2015 Nissan Pathfinder at a high rate of speed. The Chevy then crashed into a pole.
A passenger in the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries, including severe burns.
Hernandez Martinez and a second passenger were taken to the hospital with undisclosed wounds.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital after being discovered on the curb near the crash. Four passengers in the vehicle also sustained unknown injuries.
Hernandez Martinez is facing charges of intoxication assault involving serious injuries.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
