Off-duty officer and child dead after dump truck rear-ends vehicle in Grayson Co.

SOUTHMAYD, TX (GRAYSON COUNTY) – An off-duty police officer and his child were killed after a dump truck rear-ended their vehicle and set off a chain reaction crash in Grayson County earlier this week.

According to NBC DFW, the accident occurred near Southmayd on State Highway 56 on Monday afternoon.

An off-duty officer with the Celina Police Department, 33-year-old Detective K. C. Robinson, was waiting in his vehicle behind a line of other cars stopped for a school bus ahead. His 6-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with him.

A garbage truck collided with the rear of Robinson’s vehicle, which set of a chain reaction of crashes with the other vehicles in the line.

Robinson and his daughter were killed in the crash.

Multiple other people were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

No students on the bus were reported as injured.
