ARLINGTON, TX – A person fell into the street, and then was fatally struck by the driver of an 18-wheeler, who initially left before officials arrived at the scene of the crash in Dallas this weekend.

According to CBS DFW, the accident occurred in the 1300 block of E Abram Street at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday, when the victim lost their balance and fell into the street. They were then struck by the driver of a semi-truck hauling a tanker trailer.

The driver reportedly initially stopped after striking the victim, but had left the scene by the time police arrived. The driver then returned later.

Reports claim that the victim was fighting with another person when they lost their balance.  At this time, authorities do not believe that the alleged opponent pushed the victim into the path of the truck.

The driver and the other person in the alleged fight were not reported as injured.

The identities of the driver and victim were not immediately released.
