Two dead in fiery crash caused by suspected drunk driver in Garland

GARLAND, TX – Two people died after a suspected drunk driver rear-ended their vehicle on Sunday morning on westbound Highway 66.

The crash happened somewhere between Dexham and East Centerville roads around 2:30 a.m. The suspect, 30-year-old Gustavo Huerta Jr., rear-ended a car, causing it to hit a concrete barrier and crash into a ditch. That car caught fire, burning the two people inside.

Huerta stayed at the scene, and police suspect he was impaired, according to NBC DFW.

The crash remains under investigation.
