3 injured as high-speed crash cuts car in half near east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — Three people were sent to a hospital last Friday night after a major two-vehicle collision in El Paso’s Lower Valley, reports KTSM.

The crash happened at the intersection of North Loop Drive and North Carolina Drive, in the Rosedale neighborhood, on September 2.

According to the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigators, a 19-year-old man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on North Loop Drive at high speeds. A 26-tear-old man was driving a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 southbound on North Carolina Drive and was attempting a left turn when the S-10 was struck by the speeding Camaro.

Officials said the impact of the crash sliced the S-10 in half, and caused its cabin to roll before coming to a stop on its roof.

Both drivers, as well as a 19-year-old woman in the Camaro, suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to an area hospital. No updates on their conditions have been released at this time.

An investigation by the department’s Special Traffic Unit remains ongoing.
