5 injured when SUV slams into restaurant in west El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KTSM, five people were injured, one seriously, Thursday morning when an SUV crashed into a west El Paso restaurant.

The collision occurred at Como’s Italian Restaurant, located off 4030 North Mesa Street in the city’s Mission Hills South area. It was first reported at around 7:00 a.m.

El Paso Police said a man in his 20s was driving a white SUV and fleeing undisclosed authorities when he crashed the vehicle into the front wall of the business.

Five undocumented migrants in the SUV suffered a range of injuries, one of them serious, and were transported to a local hospital.

The driver tried to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended. He now faces multiple charges, including “evading in a motor vehicle,” “evading on foot” and “human smuggling.”
