EL PASO, TX — A 71-year-old man died Monday evening after a single-vehicle accident off Gateway North Boulevard in northeast El Paso, reports El Paso Times.

The wreck took place near Cohen Avenue, just north of El Paso Community College – Transmountain Campus, at around 5:25 p.m.

According to El Paso Police, the man was driving a 1995 Nissan pickup truck when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle slowed down and traveled off the roadway into nearby rock landscaping. Officials said the pickup then hit a traffic sign at a slow speed before coming to a stop.

Good Samaritans alerted authorities after finding the victim unconscious at the scene. He was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
