Driver dies after semi overturns on I-10 near east Van Horn

CULBERSON COUNTY, TX — A 63-year-old man died last Friday after a rollover crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 10 in east Van Horn, reports KFOX14.

The fatal accident happened at mile marker 163 on September 16, at around 3:30 p.m.

It remains unclear at this time what led up to the wreck, but investigators said two vehicles were involved. As a result, one of the vehicles, a semi-truck, rolled over and came to rest between the eastbound and westbound lanes, causing hazardous materials to spill onto the eastbound interstate.

Texas State troopers worked to remove the driver of the semi, who had become trapped in the wreckage. He was rushed to Culberson County Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Crews with the El Paso Fire Department and Lone Star Hazmat responded to the scene to evaluate the area’s safety conditions following the accident. It was later declared safe.

At this time, no details have been shared regarding the other driver.
