Elderly pedestrian hit, seriously hurt by pickup truck in west El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KFOX14, a woman was critically hurt Wednesday when she was hit by a driver near Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary School in west El Paso.

El Paso Police responded to the scene in the 400 block of Cabaret Drive, shortly after 1:45 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 72-year-old woman was walking in the roadway when she was hit by a Ford F-150 pickup truck as it entered Cabaret Drive from a private driveway.

The victim suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Authorities said the driver, a 50-year-old man, had failed to yield to the right of way of the female pedestrian. The fact that the victim was in the roadway and not on the sidewalk is also said to have been factor.

No updates have been released at this time, but an investigation remains in progress.
