Fort Bliss soldier hospitalized after hit-and-run crash in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KVIA, a 20-year-old woman was seriously injured early Sunday when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing an east El Paso road.

El Paso Police responded to the scene on Lee Trevino Drive shortly after the incident at 12:35 a.m.

An early investigation indicates the young woman, a Fort Bliss soldier, was walking from the road’s west curb to the east curb. As she crossed the street, she was hit by a driver in a southbound pickup truck.

Officials said the driver fled the scene without stopping. The striking pickup truck is believed to be white or grey in color and of a newer model, similar to a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC. The vehicle should have front-end damage consistent with the crash.

No updates on the victim’s condition have been disclosed at this time.
