Hit-and-run driver sought after fatal motorcycle crash on I-10 in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — A 38-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a motorcycle wreck on Interstate 10 near east El Paso, reports El Paso Times.

The fatal crash happened near Lee Trevino Drive (Exit 30), in the city’s Loma Terrace area, at about 8:00 p.m.

Traffic investigators with the El Paso Police Department said the man was operating a 2017 Harley-Davidson eastbound on I-10 when, for unknown reasons, he veered to the left of the roadway. Moments later, the motorcycle slammed into the center concrete barrier, causing the rider to eject and land on the left westbound lane. Officials said the victim was then run over by a vehicle that continued driving away without stopping.

First responders arrived to find the victim’s body on the westbound lanes and his motorcycle on the eastbound interstate.

The area between Lomaland Drive and Lee Trevino Drive was shut down as authorities conducted an investigation.

By 3:45 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

At this time, no description of the fleeing vehicle has been released.

An investigation remains ongoing.
