Man hit, seriously hurt by car during argument at El Paso shopping center

EL PASO, TX — According to KTSM, a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries Sunday evening when he was struck by a driver at Bassett Place Mall in El Paso.

El Paso Police responded to the scene in the Target parking lot off Gateway Boulevard West, shortly after 5:30 p.m.

An early investigation indicates the victim was in a Ford Explorer arguing over a parking space with a 40-year-old man in a Honda CRV. At one point, both men exited their vehicles and the victim was physically assaulted by the CRV driver.

As the victim ran back to his Ford Explorer, the suspect, who was already back in his CRV, backed up into a parked Nissan Titan before driving into the victim.

Authorities said the victim was pinned between the striking CRV and his Explorer, which was occupied by a 13-year-old boy.

The suspect was taken into custody and later charged with Aggravated Assault for the serious injuries sustained by the victim, as well as Abandoning or Endangering a Child.

No updates on the victim’s condition has been disclosed as of this writing.
