Motorcyclist dies after multi-vehicle crash on I-10 in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KTSM, a 67-year-old man died Friday evening after being ejected from his motorcycle in a multi-vehicle wreck in east El Paso.

The fatal accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 near Lee Trevino Drive. It was first reported by KTSM on July 15 at 6:07 p.m.

Officials with the El Paso Police Department said four vehicles were traveling eastbound in the left lane when a chain-reaction crash was set in motion.

A driver in a 2018 Dodge Charger came to an abrupt stop and was rear-ended by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. The victim, a Horizon City resident, was riding a 2001 BMW R11 motorcycle when he struck the back of a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The impact of the crash sent the rider off the bike and onto the next lane, where he was run over by a tractor-trailer.

Medics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

It was unclear whether anyone else was hurt.

At this time, no further details have been provided and no arrests or pending charges have been reported.

The case was being handled by the EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigators (STI).
