Motorcyclist’s leg amputated in crash in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX – KFOX14 / CBS4 News reports that a motorcyclist lost one of his legs in a crash in east El Paso on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the motorcyclist, 20-year-old Stephen James Sims, was riding northbound in the 3100 block of Lee Trevino Drive when another driver, who was exiting a private driveway, failed to yield the right of way and hit Sims.

The impact caused Sims and his motorcycle to slide across the road. Sims lost a leg in the aftermath of the impact and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police continue to investigate this incident.
