Pedestrian fatally hit by vehicle while crossing I-10 in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KTSM, a man was struck and killed by a pickup truck Wednesday night while crossing Interstate 10 near El Paso’s Ranchland East area.

El Paso Police responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes at Giles Road shortly after 9:40 p.m.

Officials said the male pedestrian was walking in traffic lanes when he was hit by a 2007 pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old man.

The driver stayed after the crash and called authorities.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed at this time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It remains unclear at this time why the victim had been on the freeway prior to the incident.

An investigation was being led by the El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit.
