Pedestrian hit, killed by car while crossing Montana Ave in east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — A 44-year-old man died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle near Lone Star Golf Club in east El Paso, reports The El Paso Times.

El Paso Police said the fatal incident occurred near the intersection with Admiral Street at around 12:42 a.m.

An early investigation indicates the male pedestrian was not in a crosswalk or an intersection as he tried to cross a dimly-lit area of the road. At one point, he was hit by an eastbound Pontiac G-6 driven by a 18-year-old man.

Officials confirmed the pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene.

No injuries to the driver or the Pontiac’s three passengers were reported.

An investigation was underway, but “poor lighting and pedestrians not crossing at crosswalks” were said to have contributed to the wreck. At this time, no charges have been filed.
