Pedestrian hit, seriously hurt by driver at east El Paso shopping center

EL PASO, TX — A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle outside an east El Paso shopping center, reports KVIA.

El Paso Police responded to the scene at Eastridge Plaza Shopping Center, in the area of McRae Boulevard and Wedgewood Drive. The incident was first reported shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Officials have not released details on the events leading up to the crash, but the male pedestrian was hit by a driver in the center’s parking lot. Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A section of the parking lot was taped off in the aftermath of the event.

At this time, no information on the driver has been shared.

It remains unclear whether any charges are expected to be filed.
