UPDATE: 2 women die after crash with semi in NW El Paso

EL PASO, TX — Two women from Sunland Park, New Mexico died Tuesday morning after their car collided with a semi in El Paso’s Upper Valley, according to KTSM.

The fatal accident happened in the 600 block of Artcraft Road, near Upper Valley Road, at around 9:30 a.m.

El Paso Police said a 37-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the car when she tried to make a U-turn and failed to yield to the right of way. Moments after the car entered the path of an oncoming semi-truck, the two vehicles collided.

Both the driver of the car and her passenger, a 59-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

It was unclear whether the driver of the semi, a 30-year-old man, was injured.
