Woman hit, killed by car while looking for dropped cell phone in west El Paso

EL PASO, TX — According to KFOX14, a 37-year-old woman was fatally injured Monday night when she was hit by a driver while crossing a road in west El Paso.

The fatal incident took place at 135 Shadow Mountain Drive, near Chase Bank, at about 9:42 p.m.

According to El Paso Police, a 22-year-old man was driving a 2001 GMC Sierra westbound on the road when he struck the woman.

Authorities said the woman had walked from the north to the south side of Shadow Mountain Drive with her son, who had dropped his phone in the street. The victim was returning to the traffic lane when she was hit.

Medics transported the patient to University Medical Center, where she later died.

An investigation remains in progress.
