15-year-old girl killed in golf cart accident in Galveston’s West End

GALVESTON, TX – A 15-year-old girl visiting from North Texas was killed in an accident involving a golf cart in Galveston’s West End this weekend, according to KTRK.

The crash occurred at King Rail Circle and Spotted Sandpiper Drive at about 10 p.m. Sunday, when the 16-year-old driver of a golf cart performed a sharp turn. Her 15-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

She was lying unconscious in the road when authorities arrived at the scene. The girl was taken to the hospital, and later there was pronounced dead.

The driver of the cart was not hurt.

Neither of the girls was wearing a safety device when the crash happened.

The accident remains under investigation.
