16-year-old boy killed after being hit by juvenile driver in Brazoria Co.

ALVIN, TX (BRAZORIA COUNTY) – A 16-year-old bicyclist died in northwest Brazoria County on Friday after he was hit by a teenage driver, according to KHOU.

The accident happened in Alvin, located about 30 miles northwest of Galveston, near the intersection of Owen St and Davis Bend Rd at about 7 a.m.

The victim, a student of Alvin ISD, was riding against the flow of traffic on southbound David Bend when he was hit by a juvenile driver.

The victim, who has yet to be publicly identified, was taken to a local hospital, where he died of injuries sustained during the crash.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.

At this time, authorities do not believe that the driver, who also was not publicly identified, was speeding, distracted, or under the influence when the crash occurred.

Police continue to investigate the fatal collision at this time.
