Galveston man dead after crashing allegedly stolen SUV in La Marque

LA MARQUE, TX – A man being pursued by police on suspicion of stealing an SUV died after a car accident which also hurt two other people on Monday morning, according to the Galveston County Daily News.

The accused and victim is 40-year-old Galveston man Jim Battle Brown, who crashed an SUV near the I-45 feeder road and FM-519, ending a police pursuit that went from Galveston to La Marque.

Brown allegedly sped through a traffic light during the pursuit before colliding with a white Chevrolet Silverado.

He was then taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, where he died of his injuries.

Two people inside the Silverado were non-critically injured in the accident. Their identities have not been released at this time.

The accident is under investigation at this time by an internal affairs branch of the police department.
