Man killed while walking across Galveston Causeway bridge

GALVESTON, TX – A man walking over the Galveston Causeway bridge early this morning died after being hit by an SUV, according to the Galveston Daily News.

The accident occurred near the exit for Harborside Drive at about 12:20 a.m. as a man, who has yet to be identified, was reportedly walking along the roadway.

The driver of a Jeep Liberty SUV, who is not expected of having been under the influence, struck the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver, who also was not publicly identified, was taken to the University of Texas hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

According to the report, pedestrians are not allowed on the highway.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
