WEBSTER, TX – A man was killed and two people were injured after a teenage girl crashed her mother’s SUV into the back of another vehicle in the Webster area, southeast of Houston, this morning.

According to FOX 26 Houston, the accident happened near the intersection of Galveston Road (Highway 3) and El Dorado Boulevard at about 3 a.m.

A 16-year-old girl who had taken her mother’s red SUV had been reported to Houston PD. She was spotted by authorities near Beltway 8, and a high-speed pursuit began.

The pursuit reportedly ended after officers learned that the teenager was suffering from mental illness issues. After HPD spotted the vehicle again, however, the pursuit began once more, this time with the use of a helicopter.

The driver reportedly switched off her lights at points during the chase.

The chase ended when she finally collided with the rear of a sedan, which pushed the victims’ car into a tree.
